Dr. Francesco Bariatti
Francesco is a postdoc working on exploratory pattern mining on graph data. In 2021 he obtained a PhD in Computer Science titled "Mining Tractable Sets of Graph Patterns with the Minimum Description Length Principle" from the University of Rennes (France). Before coming to Leiden, he worked at the IRISA research lab in Rennes (France).
Francesco is interested in helping users understand unknown data by surfacing knowledge from the data itself. He is particularly interested in graphs, which allow a lot of freedom for expressing knowledge, especially in ways that are natural to humans. His current research focuses on using compression-based methods to select human-sized sets of descriptive patterns, which can highlight the underlying structure of the data.
