Postdoc
Oliver currently works as machine learning researcher at RIVM, the national institute for public health and environment. During his time as postdoc in the EDA group, Oliver worked on fault/anomaly detection, in particular for the HIsarna ironmaking process at Tata Steel in IJmuiden, as part of the DIGITAL TWIN programme funded by NWO.
Before coming to Leiden, Oliver was at Ghent University as a doctoral and post-doctoral student, where he worked on semi-supervised anomaly detection (one-class classification), fuzzy rough nearest neighbour classification, and classification with missing values. He has previously worked as a data scientist in Amsterdam and Oslo.
Oliver is interested in evaluating the empirical effect of different machine learning approaches on real-life datasets, as well as tracing the historical origin of machine learning concepts in the literature.
