Ioanna is a PhD candidate on the Digital Twin research programme at Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS), Leiden University, supervised by dr. Matthijs van Leeuwen. The goal of the programme is to develop a unified mathematical and ICT platform for integrating data-driven and model-based engineering in future Industrial Technology with value chain optimization. Her research project is a cooperation with two industrial companies, Tata Steel and ASM-PT.

Her current research focuses on developing automated hybrid model selection based on the minimum description length principle (MDL) by exploiting measured data to ensure performance, safety, flexibility, and quality of product/process design cycles with an improved predictive accuracy.

She obtained her Integrated Master’s diploma in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Ioannina, Greece, where she was born and raised. Ioanna finds a particular interest in explanatory data mining, ethical machine learning, statistical analysis and predictive modeling.
